Home Coming

I went to the home coming football Game. We played Against UTAH we almost won it was a good game the whole way until the 4th quarter until we started losing and we lost to a close and fun game. It was my first football game here at San Jose State it was fun and i had a great time it was a fun a well good game to watch. The fans were really into and excited we had a great time there i went with my girlfriend and some friends to watch the game

Today I went home today for thanksgiving. We had a great time for thanksgiving. We went to my aunties house to eat turkey and spend time with my family. We watched football, we first watched the detroit lions vs. the greenbay packers. Then later that night we watched the raiders and cowboys. Then i went to my girlfriends house to spend thanksgiving with her and her family. Then on friday i went to reno and had a great time in reno and saw snow. I went to the arcade and won many prizes it was fun

Campus Events

I went to a music concert here at San Jose State. We listened to the electronic sounds and the music from nature. It was really weird. There werent many instrument used it basically used from computer. We heard alot sounds from the rain forest. I went with my girlfriend at the music room on campus. It started at 7 oclock and there was 1 person playing the trumpet it was fun and good.

Chapter 12

In chapter 12 the books talks about having a career or getting help with getting an career. It first gives you an advice what about what basic skills that you need to start your working career like reading, writing, mathematics, speaking, and listening. there are many skills that you need to obtain to start your career. You can start out by having an internship or having part time or summer jobs. You can also set career goals which helps you guide you in the direction you want to be in. You can prepare for your jobs by having a resume or practicing an interview and go into a real interview and impress the employer.

Video Project

The video project we did was really fun. I never done a video project before. In the beginning i was nervous all i had to really do was be myself. What worked was the camera and the mic and having a good place to shoot our video. What didnt work really good was the steam machine because the steam didn't really come out. I loved shooting the video. It wasn't really hard for me because i am always a goofy and loud person so it made it easy. I liked doing the video

Chapter 10

In chapter 10 it teaches us how to take car of our health. People should not smoke and drink alcohol. When I sleep i wake up sometimes and i don't know why. I am rarely stressed but if i am its probably from something serious like failing a test or something big happened in my life. I eat very healthy i eat vegetables fruit and meat to get all my protein i think i am very healthy. I exercise everyday i love to play basketball and i play a lot it keeps me in shape. I don't ever take drugs so i think i am in very good shape and have very good health

Chapter 8

In this chapter it helps us take tests better and gives us advice and tips to help pass tests. You have to pace yourself and plan for the long term. They talked about to cram everything into one section or else you will forget a lot of things. It also says that you need to stay healthy because you will have fewer problems and have energy to study. When you plan for short term you want to know what is going to be on the test, what types of questions are going to be on the test, and many more. For me I usually make flash cards to help me remember things, but during math tests I am use practice problems so i can learn how to do it perfectly. Another way that helps me study is teaching another person how to do the work. What i have a really problem with is essay tests because they are so long and i stress them very much. But in this chapter it helped me get better in essay tests and gave me some advice like highlighting parts of the prompt paraphrasing each paragraph.

Weekend

During the weekend i got my iphone 3gs and it was really cool. I put all these cool apps and even go to on the internet. I never knew how much a phone can be entertaining. I also went home and had a party at my cousins house because someone from vietnam came to America for their first time. They brought back many things from vietnam to share with us. The good there was great. We were watching the College Football games and taught the people from vietnam how it works. It was hard but still fun. I had a great weekend

Campus Moive Fest

Campus Movies Fest was fun. When my friends and I got there we got to take pictures on the red carpet like it was a really big event for celebrities. I felt famous. The movie fest was really fun. I wished i won a door prize. The movies were really funny and fun. My favorite movie was Out of the box. I thought the director made it look cool because i liked how the kid went to different countries. Another movie that i thought was cool was fun scare because they made it so funny and how they pretend to be the statue outside of clark building. The door prizes were cool, i almost caught a tshirt when they came out and threw them. That night was the first time i saw the president of San Jose State University. All the movies were great i had a good time. Hopefully someone in San Jose State wins the whole competition. It would be really good. It was a fun time.

Chapter 7

In chapter 7 the books talks about how you study. Tells you on how to study, know where to study, and know when to study. When you study you should know where to study. You should choose the right conditions. When you choose where to study there shouldn't be any distractions or loud noise so you can concentrate. You should always know what to study, you should use calendars or planners to know what you are studying and know what you have to cover for that day. In the second part of the chapter it tells you to know the basic knowledge. Master the disciplines you should know the natural sciences and math, social sciences, and foreign language. Lastly they talk about improving your memory. talks about long term and short term memory. There are many ways you can memorize things like songs, mnemonics, rhymes, and many more. Use study groups you help you study.

Sexual Consent Workshop

I went to a workshop about sexual consent i went with philip. They showed us how consent was very important because you dont want be in trouble with people that dont let you do something to them. Me and philip won a competition and won t-shirts but we never got them because we didnt want to get them. I learned alot about sexual consent and i had a great time.

Peer Mentor Muse Class

I think peer mentors are very helpful because they have a lot of information that you can ask them. They always help you with your homework or work. Like when i was struggling on my research paper i went to the peer mentor center and the mentor helped me learn how to do it. The muse class so far is really fun it has helped me through transition because i did not know what to expect. Like teachers in high school would tell you due dates for homework but in college you have to check your syllabus constantly to see whats due on what day. Peer Mentors really very helpful because they can help you in many ways like homework, help finding something, or help you make a good decision. I think peer mentor are very helpful and the muse classes are really helping me transition because i usually have many students in one class and in a muse class there are a few and its more fun and you can get help one on one with the professor or mentor.

Chapter 5

In chapter 5, the book talks about thinking critically. Thinking critically is very important especially in college, but in the real world too. Thinking critically will help you expand your mind. Many career involve critical thinking like engineering, being a doctor, or playing a sport. If your stuck in a problem ask a questions to help you figure out the problem. You usually join want to think inside and outside the box. Be opened minded. Making good decisions is always the best thing you want to do. Don't make poor decisions because it might ruin something, if you do make a poor mistake try learning from it and make a better one next time.

Chapter 4

In chapter 4, it describes the number of ways people learn. It talks about learn by reflecting, learn by creative thinking, learn by doing, and learn by critical thinking.Learning by critical thinking means that the person needs to think out problems. Learning by reflecting means that the person needs to remember the information and compare that to things you already know. Learning by creative thinking means that the person prefers to use their own judgement, and write and brainstorm. Learning by doing means that the person wants to actually work on problems. I usually like doing learning by reflecting because its always better to compare things you have seen already.

Great America

On Sunday I went to Great America. It was really hot and a perfect to go out and ride on all the rides. I am usually scared of roller coasters, but I overcame my fear and rode on some of the scariest rides they had there. I even played on the basketball shooting to win my girlfriend a prize it was and tiring. We walked a lot that day. It was a day of full on excitement. On Sunday it was some Filipino day or something because everyone had a flag representing them. It was fun and hot. We even saw a lot of the mascots like "Sponge Bob Square Pants" and many more. It was fun a relaxing day i had a blast

Chapter 9

This Chapter taught us to prepare to write an essay and how to be successful in writing an essay for a class. The chapter taught us how to prepare an outline and first drafts, revise, and edit your work to make it look neat and professional. It even taught us how to learn from feed back from other people. It also taught us about plagiarism. It is not good to copy other peoples work. Even taught us how to make a good speech and learn how to give a good speech. A time where I witnessed a bad speech was when i was in High school. I realized it was bad speech when the person put the paper in front of his face so we could not hear the person presenting. He also did not have eye contact. The speaker didn't try to correct it because i think he was nervous when he was presenting. If i could give advice to someone that is presenting is to practice the speech someone else first. A reason why you would want to plagiarize is because someone forgot to do a paper and he would fail the class if he didn't get it so he would just find someones paper and copy it to get it. Someone wasn't thinking about the consequences when he copied the paper. You can get to jail, fail a class, pay a fine, or get kicked out of college or school.

MIME GAME: Partner: Philip

Today we played a mime game where me and my partner Philip had to copy each others movements. It was funny in the beginning because we had to copy every single movement that we were doing. We were making weird movements and wiggly movements. It was fun. After that we had act something out and I acted out trying to steal his laptop and getting away with my car. He acted out getting up doing his daily routine and rushing to school because he was late. It was hard because you had to try to guess what he was doing because you anticipate his movements. It was a good way to learn about each other. It was a funny activity.

Chapter 2 and 3 Summary

Chapter 2 in my guide it told us about good communication. Communication is key because it can solve many things. Like if you have a bad grade and you wanted to communicate to your professor about your bad grade or if your just talking to a friend about a situation to resolve the situation. It gave me tips about how to communicate with each and real world situation to prove the tips they gave me. In the second of chapter 2 my guide talks about gaining a relationships if its either with a loved one or a family because relationship can be key when in college because you will gain networks by if you needed a job you would go back to someone you knew already and a relationship was already built. In chapter 3 it talks about time management. Time management is mostly common sense but not most of the time. If you are doing well in school and learning and getting work done that means your time management should be good and you are being successful. You should have a weekly planner to plan out what needs to be done. Procrastination is something you should conquer in my guide it gave us tips about how to conquer procrastination like being organized or putting deadlines on your calender to remember what needs to be done. These chapters were real useful and reminded me what i need to do in college to be successful

MLK Library Tour

When we went on our tour to the library the librarian Paul Kauppila was giving us the tour and how the library works. I learned many new things when he taught us how to use the library and what the library would have for us. The library was really nice when I first walked in, it was the nicest library I ever seen. He told us about the quiet floors where people can study and how each department has there own librarian. You can even reserve a study room to have group studies. All you need was a library card and your tower card. He told us how to use the search engines and how to narrow down something you search from 4,000 to 71. The search engine would be really useful because you can search books and if they don't have it then it will show other libraries that would have it and transfer them here or it could tell when the book is due so you can come in a get it. He also showed a great website which was could Refworks. Refworks would make your bibliography for you and all your resources in any format you would like. He also showed us Academic Search Premier which he said was really common and most useful when you are looking for resources after that we all went down to get library cards and it was a great adventure and tour. I learned a lot about our library.

Coming Back to SJSU

Today I came back to SJSU from San Francisco. I spent the weekend at San Francisco my home. I spent time with my family while I was home and got to eat a fine home made meal. On friday night i went to the movies and watched Final Destination 3. I didn't think the movies that good. The thing I liked about it is that it was in 3D. On Sunday I went to my girlfriends house and ate steak that her mom prepared for us. It was delicious then today I went to a BBQ and had very good ribs I loved it. After that I drove back to SJSU with my girlfriend before that we made a stop to Fry s to buy some headphones and a new mouse

Your Guide "Your Journal" - Chapter 1

The Room Advisers have helped me a lot while I am on campus. They have helped me by telling me where things may be or how i would get help with other things on campus like meeting a adviser or joining a club. What I need help with now in college is how to keep myself focus and not slacking off or getting distracted. A person on campus can just tell me to do my work and stay focus and not slack off and have my back.I have many computer skills like using Microsoft Office, surfing the internet, checking my e-mail, scanning my computer for viruses, and I know some of the parts of the computer and what they do like a video card or a hard drive. I don't really have any fears regarding computers, but if i did it would how to install new parts to my computer and installing them the right way. The library service at SJSU is very useful here. You can do many things and get a lot of resources from the library. You can study in the library, they have study rooms for group studying, and computers to use if you don't have one.

Your Guide "Your Journal" - Prologue

College is different from what i am used to because college has more freedom than in high school. High school my counselors chose what times my classes are and when I have to go to them. Now in College I can choose when to go to my classes and I don't have to go to school for 8 hours a day you can separate the hours in college. What I am excited about in college is meeting new people and joining organizations to know whats around school. The most stressful experience in college so far is finishing all my homework. It was so stressful because I was loaded with homework and I didn't think I would finish in time. I coped with it by focusing and making sure I finished it. If it happens again I will make a better schedule for myself to complete all my work

Drawing Blood

This weekend was quite fun and interesting. On Thursday night I drove back from San Jose with my Girlfriend. We went to go to San Mateo first to help her brother do his final. He had to draw blood from us. It was interesting. I went first he first drew blood from me from my arm. It didn't hurt so much. The second time I went was the time when it actually brought pain to me, but it was not the same because the second time he drew blood from me from my hand and it was more painful, but i got through it and I'm glad I helped someone out. He passed his final and got his lobotomist license.

First Week of College

My first week of school was quite exciting. Other like my first day of school i actually went to all my classes. First week was quite easy not very much homework. I still have not met my actual math teacher yet because shes still sick. Today was interesting and rough because i woke up to a fire alarm. There was a fire under the CVC and CVB parking lot. A car was on fire. I had to evacuate the building at nine in the morning leaving all my school materials in the building. We were locked out until two o'clock. I couldn't turn in my homework today because of it but it was hard because i barely got any clothes i had to wear my pajamas to class it was a interesting day.

First Day of College

On my first day of college it was really different from high school. On my first day one of my classes was already canceled which was my math class. It was different because I didn't have a clue where i was going or which building that i had to go to for my classes. I was a true freshman with my map in my hand. College has way more freedom than high school. I only went to one class on my first day which was the muse class Get Internet Famous. My day was easy and fun.
